Huzzah! It’s time again, dearest ladies, chaps, and gentlethems, for the most fashionable event on two wheels. You are cordially invited to attend the 8th Annual St. Pete Tweed Ride and Gala at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club.
Proceeds from this event support the work and mission of the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, the oldest and largest of its kind, established in 1924. This year, we have chosen an exciting Club renovation project to fund—updating the interior of the original Clubhouse! Buy your ticket now and help us make this space the warm and welcoming environment that it has been for nearly 100 years.

We are seeking sponsors to help us meet our fundraising goal. Proceeds from the St. Pete Tweed Ride support the work and mission of the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, the oldest and largest of its kind, established in 1924. This year, we are continuing to raise money to update the interior of the original Clubhouse. Farewell wood paneling! Download the sponsor benefit packet here.
To us in 2018, the Clubhouse refers to the entirety of our most-used building. But it was built in two parts—the original Clubhouse was built in 1926 and the windowed and sky-lit Solarium was added in 1931. In this picture, one of the oldest we have, you can see the Clubhouse footprint before the Solarium was added. The now-central wall with the fireplace was the outer wall before the addition of much-needed recreational space for the rapidly growing Club!
Funds raised from the proceeds of the Tweed Ride will help us to update the interior of the original Clubhouse. We plan to remove the wood paneling added in the 1970s, fix up the plaster behind it, and create a new and modernized kitchen. We want to take this part of the Clubhouse out of the shadows and reanimate it as the beating heart of the Club.
Last year we raised about 2/3 of our goal for this project—sponsor or attend the 2019 Tweed Ride to help us meet the goal!
Will there be tickets available on the day of the event?
Probably. However purchasing in advance helps us plan volunteers, resources, food, drinks, and space to ensure a safe and fun event. Since the party will happen rain or shine, there’s no reason not to buy your tickets now so we know you’re coming!
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Some parking is available in the lot east of the Club, in the street parking spaces around Mirror Lake, or in approved spaces on the west side of the Club near the Bike Co-op. The west lot is shared with the Mirror Lake Condos, so park only in unmarked spaces or you risk being towed. If you can bike to the Club instead of driving, please do so.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
The event is for all ages. Cycle Brewing beer will be served by donation, therefore we will be checking IDs at registration.
Will you be serving beer before the ride?
No. We discourage drinking before the ride and absolutely no drinking while you’re riding the route! Bicycles count for DUIs and we will have St. Petersburg Police Department escorts this year for ride safety. Before the ride we will have tea and non-alcoholic beverages.
Can I bring my own cocktails to the Tweed Ride?
The Tweed Ride is the Club’s only fundraiser of the year! Part of the funds we raise come from the donations we receive for Cycle Brewing beer. We ask that for this one day a year, you don’t BYO and instead support the Club via bar donations.
I just want to watch the riders/pop in for a minute to see everyone's cool outfits/come to the after party. Do I have to buy a ticket?
Yes, please. The Tweed Ride is the Club’s only fundraiser of the year! On January 26, 2019, the Club will be closed to anyone who is not a ticketed guest. Take advantage of the Club Member pricing and come party with us!
I want to ride but don't have a bike!
Not to worry! There are several Coast Bike Share hubs very close to the Club! It’s quick and easy to rent from Coast.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
