Announcing St Petersburg's first Tweed Ride and Seersucker Shuffle! Saturday, April 2nd, 2011.

Join the Ladies and Chaps of Tampa Bay for a leisurely bike ride through beautiful downtown St Petersburg. Wear your finest tweed or other fashionable vintage. After the ride, gather at the St Petersburg Shuffleboard Club for a ripping party featuring food, libations and dancing to the swinging sounds of Lounge Cat.

The ride is free, but you must register by April 1st. Tea and scones will be served before and after the ride. Register at http://stpetetweedride.eventbrite.com. Registering for the ride will ensure that you receive the map of the ride and other related items via e-mail.

The Shuffle is $10. Food, music and general merriment is included. There will be a cash bar. St Petersburg Shuffleboard Club members receive one free drink ticket. You can buy your ticket at http://stpetetweedride.eventbrite.com, at the Shuffleboard Club on Friday nights, or at the door on April 2nd.

Proceeds go toward the $3500 cost of restoring the Club's tournament courts.

There will be an award for Best Dressed Lady, Most Dapper Gentleman, Most Marvelous Mustache, and Tweediest Bike. No, we don't know what Tweediest Bike means, either. Decorate your bike, ride a vintage bike, coordinate your bike/vintage outfit... you'll figure something out.

What is a Tweed Ride?

Tweed Rides are happening all over the country. Here is a great introduction to Tweed Rides: a video from Washington DC’s 2010 ride.
